An 18-year-old woman was struck and killed by a freight train early Sunday morning in west suburban Villa Park.
The woman was struck by a westbound Union Pacific freight locomotive, but not at a grade crossing, Villa Park police said in a news release.
The woman, whose identity wasn't immediately available, was dead on the scene.
Her death remains under investigation today by Villa Park police and the DuPage County coroner's office.
