All lanes on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway are open Tuesday morning after a crash involving two semis and a car that left four people hurt on the South Side Monday night.

Illinois Department of Transportation crews cleared the scene of the crash about 3:15 a.m. in the local lanes of the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 63rd Street, according to a District Chicago Illinois State Police trooper.

Two semis and a car crashed about 10:40 p.m. in the local lanes of the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 63d Street, Illinois State Police District Chicago Trooper Tom Marshall said.

A semi truck rear ended a car when it approached slowing traffic, according to the trooper. That semi was then struck by another semi truck, which caught fire.

The unidentified driver of the second semi was cited with following to close, the trooper said.

A woman and three men were injured from the crash and did not suffer any burns, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

One was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and another was also taken in serious-to-critical condition to the University of Chicago Hospitals, Langford said.

The other two were transported in good-to-fair condition, one to the University of Chicago Hospital and another to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, Langford said.
