One dead, one injured in Barrington Hills crash

One person is dead and another injured after a two-car crash in Barrington Hills this morning.

At approximately 8:17 a.m., Barrington Hills police responded to complaints of an erratic driver in a green Ford Escort headed west on Route 62 from Palatine Rd. As officers responded, they saw the Ford Escort driving on Route 62 cross the center line just west of Bateman Road hit a black 2003 Acura SUV head on. The driver of the Ford Escort was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed.

The driver of the Acura was transported to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates with nonlife threatening injuries. Barrington Hills Police and the Major Crash Assistance Team are continuing to investigate the crash.
