A motorist was killed this morning in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood when his minivan hit a light pole, Chicago police said.
The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. in the 4500 block of West Cermak Road.
The victim was the lone occupant of a 1997 Pontiac Trans Sport when it struck the pole, police said.
The victim, Enrique Sanchez, of the 2200 block of South Central Avenue in Cicero, was pronounced dead shortly before 6 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, said a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The police department's major accident investigation unit today was investigating the crash.
