A crowd of families with loved ones buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery gathered at the cemetery gates today, seeking answers a day after allegations emerged that up to four bodies at a time are being buried in body bags in a single grave there.
The allegations were announced Thursday by a high-ranking member of Gov. Pat Quinn's administration who said a witness had come forward with "credible information" about wrong-doing at Mt. Hope, in unincorporated Cook County bordering the Morgan Park neighborhood. Brent Adams urged Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes to investigate, but today he refused to tell Hynes who that witness was, or to share further details of the allegations with Hynes.
