Boy struck by vehicle in South Shore

A boy believed to be 16 years old was struck by a vehicle and injured in the South Shore neighborhood Wednesday night, officials said.

About 10:50 p.m., Chicago Fire Department paramedics were called to the 2300 block of East 78th Street in response to reports that a boy had been hit by a vehicle, said Chief Kevin MacGregor, a spokesman for the department.

The boy was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center with a minor injury, MacGregor said.

Further details about the circumstances of the crash was not immediately available.
